Meeting Professor Heppell

At the end of term 3 on the 30th of September and the 1st and 2nd of October, Professor Stephen Heppell visited St. Columbas to give us advice on how to make the school a more open and enriching learning environment.
Professor Heppell talked to the school leaders and teachers for a couple of days and then talked to some of the media team members.
We all sat in the library discussing ways we could make it a better learning environment. Professor Heppell was very impressed with the stone architecture of the library, but wanted to make it more inviting for students. He suggested lounges and beanbags, softer carpet and a 'no-shoe' rule, plants in the corners, more interesting chairs and tables and maybe some hammocks.
He asked for our opinions too and we agreed that his ideas were very good.
Professor Stephen Heppell was a very interesting and clever man and we were honored to have him visit our school.
